Major League Baseball players face a 'very real risk' of testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) if they take over-the-counter sexual-enhancement pills.
According to a league-wide memo that was obtained by ESPN, at least two players have been suspended for violating the league's PED policy this year after testing positive for banned substances that were obtained through the over-the-counter pills.
The suspended players were not identified.
Those pills, which are unregulated and often sold at gas stations, are prevalent among MLB players, sources told ESPN.
Current MLB commissioner Rob Manfred actually negotiated the league's first drug-testing agreement in with the MLB Players Association in 2002 while serving as executive vice president of economics and league affairs.
